the 4 reasons sevilla should be your next destination

It seems fitting to launch my blog with a post on Sevilla, my adopted second home.

The capital of the Andalusia region of southern Spain, Sevilla is most famously known for its flamenco. And while flamenco definitely plays a role in Sevilla culture, there are so many other reasons that Sevilla is such an incredible destination.

So here they are, my top 4 reasons to visit Sevilla:

  1. The food! It’s cheap, it’s delicious, and hello…TAPAS! SANGRIA! ORANGES! OH MY!
  2. The people! There’s something to be said about a place where family comes first. And not just in theory, but in practice. Haters will say that’s why their economy is in the state it’s in, but the people are some of the friendliest I’ve ever met.
  3. The culture! Yes, flamenco is awesome. But you know what else is awesome? Long lunches that lead right into a socially acceptable (almost mandatory even) siesta! We could use a little of that here in NYC, that’s for sure.
  4. The sights! Sevilla is home to the largest Gothic cathedral in the world, as well as tons of other beautiful sites like the Real Alcazar, Pabellon Mudejar, and Plaza de España. Not to mention all of the small, enchanting streets of the Casco Antiguo (Santa Cruz neighborhood). Any Game of Thrones fans out there? You probably recognize Sevilla as the home of Dorne, too.
